NEW YORK -- The U. S. Food and Drug Administration has approved a new drug for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, an age-old condition often linked to Viagra, a drug used to treat impotence.
The approval is part of the first of two new drug approvals, and it’s an important step toward a long-term approach to treating ED, said David Nisbet, the chief deputy director of the FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, which tracks prescription drugs.
The FDA has previously approved drugs for the treatment of sexual dysfunction in children under the age of eight and adults in the U. and Europe, according to the agency’s official website.
“This approval marks an important step in the ongoing fight to prevent the spread of serious, serious diseases such as ED,” said Dr. Nisbet, who oversees the drug’s label and regulatory submission.
The drug was developed by Pfizer, which is in a class of drugs called phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors.
The new drug is designed to treat pulmonary hypertension, a condition in which blood pressure levels drop to an unsafe level in the lungs. The FDA has approved the drug for use in adults and children over the age of six.
“We are very pleased with the results of our study,” Nisbet said. “The findings suggest that patients may benefit from this potentially safe drug, which will help us ensure the safety and efficacy of this important treatment.”
Viagra, a well-known brand-name drug used to treat erectile dysfunction, works by relaxing muscles and increasing blood flow to certain areas of the body, including the penis and the testicles. The drug can also increase the size of the prostate, as it works by blocking the enzyme PDE5, the body’s natural chemical. Other drugs for ED, like, are only available by prescription and must be taken orally, the FDA said.
A few other drugs are being tested to treat high blood pressure, such as nitrates, used to treat chest pain and heart conditions. Viagra works by relaxing blood vessels, which can help treat heart disease and diabetes. Some of the more common treatments include a muscle relaxant called, which can increase blood flow and improve exercise capacity.
“This approval represents a major step in the fight against this growing health threat,” said, a pharmaceutical company that manages about 2.5 million prescriptions in the U.
“This study is an important step in the fight against the spread of serious diseases,” said Sidney Wolfe, director of Public Citizen’s health research group.
The FDA has already approved drugs for the treatment of pulmonary hypertension in children under the age of eight and adults in the U. and Europe. Viagra is the first of a new class of drugs known as PDE5 inhibitors that work by relaxing the blood vessels in the penis, making it easier to treat erectile dysfunction.
Pfizer’s patent on Viagra expired in October 2013, and a generic version is expected to launch next year, as the drug’s patent expires in the U. in 2017.
Viagra will also help treat erectile dysfunction, which can occur even when the person has trouble getting an erection, according to Pfizer’s website. The drug has been approved for use in adults and children over the age of six.
Viagra is the first drug approved for the treatment of sexual dysfunction in children over the age of six. The drug’s active ingredient is sildenafil, the same active ingredient used in erectile dysfunction drugs like Viagra and Cialis.
In the drug’s first year, Pfizer’s stock price rose 6.1% to $4.06 billion, a 6% increase on the previous year’s high.
Viagra is available by prescription only in the U. S., and the drug was approved for use in men under the age of 18. It is not yet available for sale in Canada.
The FDA is still reviewing the approval process, and Pfizer has not yet made a decision on whether to sell Viagra in the U.
The FDA approved Viagra in 1998 for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, which was the first of a series of drugs to treat impotence in men over the age of 18. The drug was first approved in 1998 for use in men who had trouble getting or keeping an erection.Bryan County, Alabama – U. S. Sen. Doug Collins (R-Idaho) and Rep. Charles goodyear (R-Rockville, Illinois) today announced they have signed a bill that would require pharmaceutical companies to pay $100 million to the U. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in return for their marketing exclusivity for Viagra, the first of a new class of erectile dysfunction drugs that was approved by the FDA in 1998.
“We applaud Doug Collins and Rep. Goodyear for passing this important measure,” Collins said. “The U. Food and Drug Administration will continue to protect consumers and the health of our nation.”
Goodyear is a co-sponsor of the bill and is a leading authority on the pharmaceutical industry.

This new law, which was signed into law by Collins on March 29, was introduced by the U. Senate and is part of a new effort to protect consumers and the health of the nation, according to the, a subsidiary of the drug maker.
The measure would require pharmaceutical companies to pay FDA $100 million to cover the exclusivity of their products. The company would also pay a small royalty for marketing it.
The FDA also would require pharmaceutical companies to pay a small royalty on marketing of the drug. The company would pay only $15,000 to the federal government for the marketing of the drug.
This new law also would require pharmaceutical companies to report their sales and profits to the FDA within three months. The federal drug law will remain in effect until November 1, and the new drug law will expire on January 1, 2011, and the drug’s U. Let's start with some background:Viagra is a prescription medication used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. ED is a sexual problem that occurs when a man is unable to achieve or maintain an erection firm enough for satisfying sexual intercourse.

Viagra can interact with several things, including:
Some supplements or medications may contain nitrates, which are substances in the body that cause your blood vessels to narrow or increase in blood pressure. Examples of nitrates include isosorbide dinitrate, isosorbide mononitrate, and nitroglycerin.
